Yahoo Finance was first to report the alleged attack on a Bayer executive March 4 in Morris County.
The blaze broke out at a home on East Lane in Madison at approximately 7:30 that morning, according to Meghan Knab, a spokesperson for the Morris County Prosecutor's Office. The fire was quickly extinguished by local firefighters and the home did not suffer significant damage. Knab could not confirmed that the incident was arson and pointed Daily Voice to the FBI for additional details.
A spokesperson for Bayer, a pharmaceutical and chemical company best known for its development of aspirin, said only that an incident broke out at the home of a company executive and that the family was not harmed.
"The safety and security of our employees are of utmost importance to Bayer. The incident is under active investigation," the statement says. "The company is cooperating fully with the investigation. We appreciate the quick response of local law enforcement."
The investigation is being handled by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Arson/Environmental Crimes Unit, Madison Police Department, Morris County Sheriff’s Office CSI Unit, New Jersey State Fire Marshals Office K-9 Unit, NJ Transit Police, MTA Police Department, and the NYPD.
